DJ Mic Smith of YFM Accra is part of YClash of DJs tonight

The first season held last year, which was aimed at relieving the masses from lockdown boredom, saw DJs of YFM Accra (107.9), YFM Kumasi (102.5) and YFM Takoradi (97.9) go on a head-to-head battle to settle the debate of supremacy on the turntables.

This year’s battle will determine which caucus maintains its reputation of supremacy and which caucus tumbles.

Performances

DJs representing YFM Accra: DJ Mic Smith, DJ Loft and AD DJ will go against YFM Kumasi’s DJs Carcious, Bongo and Lexes as well as YFM Takoradi’s DJ Gunshot, DJ Edita and DJ Suraka.

These DJs will display their dexterity in six thematic musical areas: Reggae/Dancehall, Made in Ghana, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, Back in the Day (throwback) and Freestyle all within a set time frame.

Organisers

Organisers of the Y Clash of the DJs disclosed that the winning team would be determined by 50 per cent of public votes and the other 50 per cent would be determined by a team of three judges.

Throwing light on the event, the Director of Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), Timothy Karikari, said: “This year, we have introduced the balloting system where all the stations ballot for the order in which they will be playing.

“We can assure our listeners that they will enjoy these epic battles among these award-winning DJs even in this COVID-19 period. We promise it is going to be a whole cutting-edge virtual battle”, he told Graphic Showbiz.

The battle will air live on all the radio stations as well as their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Y Clash of the DJs is sponsored by Kasapreko Company Limited, Accra Mall Limited and supported by Global Media Alliance, Dear Dough, Perception Management International, Print House and Whoopro.
